As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to unfold, the St. Louis Regional Health Commission (RHC) recognizes the burden placed on our health care community to respond to our most vulnerable populations during this crisis. With the board approval of the $300,000 RHC COVID-19 Emergency Fund, the RHC supports the continued access to care for uninsured patients and Gateway to Better Health members. Through the collaboration with partners, the fund is addressing the need for urgent medical supplies and equipment, costs of testing for uninsured patients, transitional staffing, treatment services and basic equipment to expand capacity and navigation services to meet the needs of the increased demand, and with limited resources, for community health care organizations during this time. In addition, communication and outreach efforts have launched to reach and inform our region’s most vulnerable and under-resourced during this pandemic through a campaign called PrepareSTL.
