During his daily press briefing usually dedicated to the state’s pandemic response, Governor Mike Parson announced his decision to place Medicaid expansion on the August 2020 ballot.

Nearly 350,000 signatures were gathered, earning Medicaid expansion a place on the ballot where voters can decide on this issue for themselves on Tuesday, August 4, 2020.

Voters will consider a constitutional amendment which, if approved, will expand access to care to more than 230,000 Missourians and bring much needed federal dollars into state coffers.

Medicaid expansion is popular among most Missourians and is expected to garner overwhelming support. After nearly a decade of effort, the question of Medicaid expansion will finally be answered by the constituency that matter most: Missouri voters.

It is more important than ever during this still active and deadly pandemic, that our elections are efficient, fair and safe. More must be done by state and local officials to ensure that people can vote without risking their lives.

Let’s continue to work together to deliver an overwhelming victory for expanding access to health care which is needed now more than ever.

Although I don’t live in MO, but, I still strongly recommend the people of the state vote for Medicaid Expansion to prove that the Affordable Care Act is valued and that people don’t want the law gone in the beyond ridiculous California .vs. Texas case. It will another point to prove that the rest of the ACA is severable from the mandate.
