As part of its mission to improve the health of uninsured citizens in St. Louis City and County, the Regional Health Commission produces an annual “Access to Care” data book. The purpose of this annual data book is to review community-wide progress toward strengthening the health care safety net system in the region. The reports are vital tools for many in our community to understand the local health care system.
These data books provide a survey of the annual operating statistics from primary, specialty, and emergency care safety net health care provider institutions in the region.

The Access to Care Data Workgroup was convened to develop an annual Access to Care report that provides a more complete picture of access to care in the St. Louis region. In an effort to fulfill this charge, the workgroup elected to supplement the Access to Care Data Book with subsequent “issue briefs” that provide additional context and data around specific issues highlighted through provider feedback and/or data collected for the report.
